New Garden Layout
Apr. 22nd, 2010 08:12 pmI have a revised garden layout!

Huh. You know what's missing? Cucumbers. Let's just pretend that section that says "Pumpkins" actually says "Pumpkins/Cucumbers".
I did get smart and space the corn types out with cooler/shade preferring/tolerant vegetables and, in the bottom half, ran the plants from tallest (to the north) to shortest (to the south). The potatoes are kind of the exception - it was the area of the garden I thought had the best potato soil. The shallow rooted peas set them back from the heavier edge soil, but the peas will also be done before I need to do any major hilling around the potato plants so they shouldn't interfere.
The melons and dry beans are separated to hopefully limit cross-pollination, although it may be a lost cause with the melons since they do so readily and I have a total of 4 types going into two sections.
Now I hear some tomato seedlings bad mouthing me out in the greenhouse because they haven't been watered yet, so I should go take care of that.
