Looking down into a potato bucket, the leaves are near four inches high.
They're growing like weeds!

Not as leafed out as the first picture, but this potato bucket is still producing and now several inches high.
Even the smaller ones are quite respectable.

After hilling, only a couple inches of leaves are sticking out of the dirt.
It's rather disconcerting to half-bury plants in dirt, particularly when you're also burying leaves.

Another hilled potato bucket with just an inch or two remaining above the soil level.
Have I mentioned lately that I have no idea what I'm doing? Because I really don't. I mean, I've read things, but until I pull out an actual potato, it's all theory.

Lettuce seedlings closeup. They're barely a quarter of an inch tall.
Meanwhile, the lettuce and other containers are just noodling along.

A Sweet Million cherry tomato plant in a large blue container, sitting just outside the greenhouse.
The Sweet Million cherry tomato plant made its final transfer today to a container comprised of a half-barrel with handles cut in it (and drainage holes, of course). I was too lazy to mix everything up, so it was layered in: first some manure, then some BM1, then some hardwood ashes, then more BM1, then some Tomato·Tone, more BM1, and finally a layer of mulch. The BM1 was mixed with water before it went in so that it wasn't perfectly dry, and I watered a bit as I was comprising the layers, plus it's supposed to rain tomorrow, so I think the moisture thing is covered. It looks a little funny at the moment (to me anyway) because both the leaders are tied to the support stake.

One of the half-drowned tomato plants is starting to show healthy green leaves again!
Over in the garden, one of its siblings (albeit of different genetic heritage, being a Black Plum tomato plant) continues to recover from the deluge in early May. Such a survivor!

A bean seedling, freshly emerged from the soil, with it's first leaves partly broken free from the cotyledons.
THE BEANS HAVE ARRIVED! Having lost the whole first round, I'm particularly excited to see them.

A wide shot of the garden on a sunny afternoon.
The garden with the mulch in amongst the tomatoes and ground that isn't as nearly as solid as it looks. Still, it's managing the water fairly well so far; there's more rain on the horizon, but hopefully not too much as far as amounts go. Mostly it's on its own for this week as walking on such wet soil would do more harm than good.
