I actually took these pictures on December 30th and now I'm finally posting them. Not terribly exciting but it does log the rare event of me being outside for more than 5 minutes right now. :) The weather was relatively nice and the ground was thawing from it's December long freeze.

Muck boots on - my primary footwear this time of year.

An unassuming row of half dead greenery and straw, but the leeks are just fine under their insulation (of which the snow is part). I pulled a half dozen for the kitchen.

Theweeds mint is doing just fine. :P

An even less assuming pile of straw.

Wait, what's this?

Oh ho! Green bits under there!

It's like magic! Rutabagas ready to be baked or tossed in a vegetable soup. Not very large because they germinated so late, but considering I thought them dead for a month or two back in fall, not too shabby. Last summer, I'd planned on being able to do more of this, but the heat combined with my inexperience in the area curttailed things significantly. Next fall will hopefully go better.

Meanwhile, Jack and River were on an important mission.

They weren't sure what it was, but it involved small rodents.

And sniffing, of course, lots of sniffing.

Essentially

they had a lot of fun

not finding anything.
